Trails

  There are trails in the Monument. Their are maintained trails even in theses difficult tomes.

Thoughts of the Future Intrude

  Even on these wonderful walks it is not easy to stay in the moment.  On this one thoughts of my future and of my over all present situation come to mind. The main thread of those thoughts seems to be to simplify my present so as to give myself a better chance for great tomorrows.

Walks

  I have been enjoying these walks. I feel better and believe that I look better. I have shed unwanted pounds and inches.

Gather 'Round

Bye to walks in the park for a while. I'll try to take a few pictures as I work on the houses. Now I'll call the Suzuki dealer and than start to do lists for work on the houses. 

Well, good for me; I'm still walking. And, not all Joshua enjoy the wide open spaces.

Where I Put My Feet

Just looking down where I put my feet seems interesting to me. Desert good. 

A Prince?

I came to this little king snake this morning of my 75th birthday. 

Desert Gourd

I suspect that these were cultivated by Indians for rattles.

Camera Walks

This is the kind of country I've been walking in. I the Summer it is better in the mourning like this before the sun heats the rocks. They get too hot to touch with ones bare hands.

I walk slowly enjoying the country around me and the sky above. Most of what I see interests me, but lately scat has often attracting my attention. I was surprised to see burro droppings today near the boundary of the Park. There have been now 'wild' burro in the area for many decades. I know of no one who keeps burros around here, but I am sure someone must. Burros are almost never ridden now but are sometimes used as pack animals. Maybe that is the case here.

 Everything seems to look small and far away. Still you can get some idea of the kind of country I am walking in.

You can see boulders and in the background one of the Joshua trees of JTNP.

The green shrub in the foreground is what we call a juniper tree. The little greyish looking things on it I call juniper berries.
I believe they are very like what is used to give gin its savor.

Desert Flowers

 This painting is not of the sort of flowers I will find on my walks in the nearby desert hills.
They do look very much like a kind that some neighbors have planted in their gardens. It seems to  be a short lived night blooming flower much prized by some.
