He Knows Where

Returning from today's walk I had some moments of indecision about which way to go. As I looked around I spotted a foot print and then another. I said to myself, "There's a guy who looks like he knows where he is going." I followed the steps and found them to be my own form a few days earlier.

Along the way there is always something delightful to see. Sorry my camera work is so far from delightful.

San Gorgonio

Another view of  San Gorgonio from the Park.

This view in the 1950s would be sharper, clearer, and show a bit of snow.

Firsr Monday of October

Walked again this first Monday of October. This will be my last walk for a time. I don't expect to have time for much walking or blogging for a while.

Holes

Walked again this morning. My body seems to be working a bit better.
Lots lf rocks in the Park. Lots of holes in the rocks. I think that these holes are different from many holes in that they are man made. I bet they were used for grinding seeds for food.

A Walk In the Park

Who blocked this door? Who will open it?
Taking pictures motivates me to walk again.Posted by Picasa

After My Walk This Morning

After my walk in Joshua Tree National Park this morning I got up my nerve to drive up to Key's View. I got out of the Suzuki and walked up to the viewing area. I seemed to be okay than I noted that I felt nauseous. People who know me know that doesn't happen to me. Then I sobbed, shed a tear, and walked back to the car.

Tasty Old Bones

As I was fooling with the camera and zipping up my pack around 10 AM I began to hear coyotes, sounded like a dozen of them. When I was set to go I listened for a time and there seemed to be about four of them howling and yipping about old bones, tasty old bones.

Someone Asked Me

Just got home from today's walk and started looking at the pictures I took. I saw this guy and was thinking that Cahuilla and some other western Indians thought that an animal with a bit of blue color was special.

Thar led me to remember that someone had asked me if I had seen a Chuckawalla on these walks.
I think I have seen one and was lucky enough to snap its picture. Chuckawalla are special  to me. I think that when I was a child that I was told that they were tasty. I'll find that photo and post it.

Moon

Started my walk late today and I'm back late. It is now afternoon. Seems fair to call this a noon moon.

Manzanita

Found this manzanita in a hidden corner of the Park today. It was like finding an old friend.

Overcast Day

This overcast day was good for walking, but not an easy day for my SX40HS. Pleasant hours in the Park, JTNP that is.
